One of the principal objectives of the Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation is to promote Cypress Lawn Memorial Park and Arboretum to the community as an historical and natural resource, and to encourage use and enjoyment of the park as an outdoor classroom and garden museum.
In this regard, the Foundation has developed the Lecture and Tour programs and will be developing more educational programs designed to create an exciting and energizing environment that offer experiences that are of interest to all segments of the community.
Lecture Program
The Sunday Afternoon Lecture Series is a program of lectures on a variety of fascinating topics open to the general community and presented by well-respected professionals in their chosen fields. Some of the past lecturers and their topics include the following:
1. Michael Svanevik - Notice of Eviction !! The Removal of San Francisco's Cemeteries
2. Edgar Sung - The Art and Philosophy of Feng Shui: Balance and Harmony in Life and Death
3. Russell A. Beatty, ASLA - Landscape for the Living: Cypress Lawn and the Rural Cemetery Movement
4. Kent L. Seavey - Great Little Buildings: Architecture at Cypress Lawn
5. David Judson - Masters of Stained Glass
6. Harvey Jones - Outdoor Sculpture at Cypress Lawn
Lectures are held every third Sunday of the month from January through October starting at 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery's Reception Center (second floor of main administration building), 1370 El Camino Real, Colma.

Tour Program
The Foundation also hosts a monthly Heritage Tour Program from January through October that provides an overview of the aesthetic, cultural, and natural resources of Cypress Lawn Memorial Park and Arboretum. These coach tours are held every third Saturday of the month and reservations are required at least five days before the scheduled tour.
The Foundation also hosts walking horticultural tours twice a year, one in late spring and another in early fall.

The Heritage Foundation is also in the process of developing special tours designed to showcase particular aspects of the park, such as stained glass, statuary, architecture, notable individuals, monuments, and epitaphs.
Publication Program
The Foundation also produces publications in a variety of formats. One of these is the quarterly Heritage Newsletter which is now on its second volume. The 120-page new book Pillars of the Past at Rest at Cypress Lawn was just recently launched. The Foundation also plans to publish occasional scholarly treatises and papers of popular interest, based on subject matter pertinent to Cypress Lawn.
Training Program
While still in the conceptual stages, the Foundation also plans to conduct training seminars in the area of material conservation and historic preservation.
